How to Check If Your TikTok Account Has Banner Access
A 10-second check using only the official TikTok app — plus what your result actually means.
Wondering whether your TikTok account is one of the lucky ones with banner access? The check is quick, uses only the official app, and settles the question in seconds. Here is exactly how to do it — and what your result means.
The 10-second check
Open the official TikTok app and go to your profile (the "Me" tab). Tap "Edit profile." Look through the options for "Change background" or anything mentioning a banner or background image. That is the whole test.
- If you see it: congratulations — your account is on the allow list. Tap it, choose an image, and you are done. Our banner design tips will help you pick dimensions that look sharp instead of stretched.
- If you do not see it: your account does not have access yet. That is the normal state for most accounts right now. Nothing is broken, and no setting will reveal it.
Before you conclude "I don't have it"
Two things are worth ruling out first. Make sure your TikTok app is updated to the latest version from the official store — allow-list waves tend to follow app updates, and an old version is the one legitimate thing that could hide the option. Also try force-closing and reopening the app; occasionally a newly granted flag needs a fresh session to show up. If the option still is not there after an update and a restart, the answer is simply "not yet."
What the result does NOT mean
Not having the banner says nothing about your account's standing. It is not tied to follower count, verification, or how active you are — TikTok's staged rollouts pick accounts in waves that look random from the outside. And having an older or newer phone makes no difference either; the check is server-side, per account.
The one thing not to do
If the option is missing, you will find tutorials claiming a modified APK will reveal it. Technically, the allow-list check lives in the app, so bypasses exist — but installing a modded TikTok client violates the terms of service and can get your account suspended, on top of the malware risk from unverified installers. There is no safe shortcut here. Keep the official app updated, and check back after the next update — waves of newly enabled accounts tend to arrive quietly.
