Is the TikTok profile banner real?

Why don't I have the banner option?

Because access is controlled by an internal allow list and the rollout is gradual. Most accounts do not have it yet. It is not about your app version, your phone, or your follower count — TikTok gates features in stages, and the banner has not reached everyone.

How do I check if my account has it?

Can a modded APK unlock the banner?

This is the claim flooding social media, and the honest answer is: do not do it. The banner button is hidden behind a server-side allow-list check, and while that check can technically be bypassed, installing a modified TikTok client violates TikTok's terms and can get your account suspended or permanently banned. Unverified APKs are also a common malware vector. There is no safe, official way to force banner access.

What is the difference between a banner and a video cover?

A banner is the wide background image on your profile page. A video cover is the thumbnail for an individual video, which you set at upload time. They are different features — and video covers are available to every account right now, making them the best official alternative while you wait for banner access.

Will I get banned for using a modded TikTok app?

It is a real risk. TikTok's terms prohibit modified clients, and their automated systems can detect them. Suspensions and permanent bans happen. Add the malware risk from unverified installers, and the "free banner" trade stops looking free.
